Previous updates lost, perhaps permanently. In the meantime we have noted that in the Dreamtime issue of the Bach Brandenburg Concerto #5 at the end of the performance, bows, flowers etc., that Richter returns and sits at the piano again ready to play as he looks up at the conductor (then the picture disappears and the credits roll) - which suggests there definately was an encore (with orchestra) - check "comments" section of item #21. We also note and welcome the recent arrival of a russian website devoted to Maestro :"Sviatoslav Richter" - a link has been installed to this splendid new website.....TRA (Sept.2006)..........TRA is extremely grateful to one of it's contributors for indicating the existence of a russian webpage detailing TV broadcasts (State Archive of TV and Radio Broadcasts). Over the coming weeks a fair number of new entries will appear in the Videographies as a result. To get the ball rolling we can now confirm Dvorak's Piano Quintet op.5 (Richter) and another Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto #1 (Gilels, Dubrowsky cond. TV broadcast 1966). We can only hope that these "new" concerts will perhaps be re-broadcasted, or better still, released commercially. We can also add a Mozart Violin Sonata recital with Oleg Kagan and Richter (1982) (which sonatas unclear at this time) and for Gilels in 1983:Schumann's Symphonic Etudes op.13,Brahms - Fantasies op.116, Mendelssohn.....TRA (Oct.2006)..........Entered: "In Memory of Sviatoslav Richter" (Documentary,1997), contains a most tantalizing last 3-4 min. of Chopin Scherzo #3 - one's mind races with the question "is it possibly from a recital of all 4 scherzi?"(check Richter "Sightings").Entered: a recital by Emil Gilels of Mozart/Beethoven/Schumann/Mendelssohn, broadcast in 1973, and a TV programme broadcast in 1986 in dedication to Gilels birthday(1916).....TRA (Nov.2006)..........Entered in December(not a bad month at all!): Richter with Kagan playing 3 Beethoven Sonatas for Violin and Piano, Richter:Debussy Images BK.1,BK.2#1 and Gilels with Kogan playing Beethoven "Kreutzer" Sonata. We note, with pleasure, the arrival of a new website in commemoration of Emil Gilels: www.emil-gilels.com.....TRA (Dec.2006)..........New to the Gilels Videography in celebration of the 90th anniversary of his birth, a russian documentary entitled "Indomitable Gilels", also I have added for Richter the Bach concerto #6 BWV 1057 (please check the "comments" section item #22).....TRA (March,2007)...........TRA has invited Judith Raynor to oversee the Gilels Videography(a task she is eminently qualified for as a foremost scholar in the music and life of EMIL GILELS)- TRA is happy to report her gracious acceptance to volunteer her time in this endevour, many thanks!!.....TRA (April,2007)..........The All-Medtner(1981)entry has been clarified: until now TRA had based it on an audio version of the concert and it was formerly described as a documentary - not so! The audio version exists in parallel and it is in a documentary style (probably made for radio broadcast but based on the television broadcast). Also new, to the Gilels Videography: Liszt's Piano Concerto #1 (1949).....TRA (July,2007)..........Perhaps making a little progress in narrowing down the programme of Mozart Violin Sonatas (current entry #30)given by Sviatoslav Richter and Oleg Kagan - check the comments box.....TRA (Dec.2007)..........Entered: Beethoven - Rondo for Piano and Orchestra (USSR State S.O./Kondrashin)1971.....TRA (July 2008).........Entered: Franck - Piano Quintet (Borodin Quartet) rehearsal. A single camera "amateur" filming.....TRA (Sept.2008)..........Entered: Szymanowski - 6 Muezzin Songs (Galina Pisarenko).....TRA (Nov.2008)
